Well here we are, Lighthouse has launched! It’s been a long time coming, but I know that we’ve only just begun. I hope you guys get a kick out of it.

Good job fella’s…and thank you for all your hard work putting this great app together. The ISP I work for uses about 10 different systems for issue tracking, they all are a total cluster f#$k! Lighthouse blows every issue tracking systems out of the water!

I’m excited to test it out and put it to use..thanks again.

peace- jeff

For ages I’ve been using RT to handle incoming issues from various user communities. In the past I’ve used stuff like Trac for more developer-facing issue/to-do + milestone support. And, like many, Basecamp for project and group communication and collaboration.

Could I use a Lighthouse project or projects to handle customer reported issues and then – if they involve stuff that may result in repo commits and the like – tossing them over to a different project? Could be that I’m thinking of queues….

Oh, and I said this via the Contact Us thingy, but congratulations! And sorry if I may have called your new company “Active Restart” – which is I think the codename for nearly all Microsoft OS’s.

Thanks,
Mike

puppyscent: Think of Lighthouse as a Trac replacement. We’re trying to stay very developer-centric. There is definitely interest in customer-centric stuff, so we’re throwing things around. However, there’s no guarantee it’ll be in Lighthouse. Since it’s a totally different user focus, it’d require a completely different approach to the UI.

For now though, we’ll be working on Lighthouse.

Rick: since you’re saying to think of Lighthouse as a Trac replacement… are you by chance open to having Open Source projects here, natrually sponsored by you (i.e. no costs involved!)?

progfrog: we have a couple on here now and may do some sort of a contest to host a few more.

Yes! A contest sounds nice!

Avatar rick Administator 546 post(s)

Ah yea, except the fact that I hate contests. What would the objective be? What about judges? And then come the allegations of cheating or rigged judging. I’ll figure something out though.

Right… it is not an easy call for the judges. What about a poll where only your current lighthouse users can cast a vote? At least you’d know that the choice is agreeable to most of your users, rather than… your own unbiased opinion! ;-)
